The BDS 2006 Splash Screen

Well, finally I got it registered, so here you see the splash screen of the Borland Developer Studio 2006, or as I still like to say Delphi 10 - the first even Delphi version you really must have because it is better than any odd one before ;-)

Please divide 10 by 2 and tell me if it is still odd :-)

Let's hope we will not again have to wait five editions for a really great one ;-) Though 7 was really nice to.

OK, is this like the emperors clothes or something? I don't see any image at all.

I can't say where your problem lays, but everyone else seems to see the picture ;-) And it's definitely there.

As for the style: well, it is not everyones favorite, true. ;-)

Personally I dislike the splash screen, but luckily I love the software :-)

Firewall (ZoneAlarm) was blocking it. Wierd, your other posts where images were embedded showed fine, just this one. Made an adjustment and there it was.

Daniel,

It seems you've got the C++ personality preview installed - is that on the CDs, or from a download??

This is the way the Borland Developer Studio is shipping presently. As DavidI wrote at http://bdn.borland.com/article/0,1410,33404,00.html

"However, we did not want the Delphi community to have to wait to get their hands on the product, nor hide the significant progress the C++ team has already made, so we have decided to release Borland Developer Studio to manufacturing later this week. This release will provide customers with production Delphi for Win32, Delphi for .NET, and C# personalities, and with a Technology Preview of the C/C++ personality, to allow C++ developers to get a first look at some of the great new features we have like build options, live code templates, the latest VCL, and much more. "

The C++Builder Personality will be shipped at a later point as update for the Borland Developer Studio 2006.

My bad: I'd thought the C++ 'preview' was going to be available as a download only.

Strangely, Borland are NOT shipping the current release to those who ordered the BCB2006 SKUs, so I don't think they're going to get much meaningful feedback from the preview...

Don't worry. C++Builder is good enough to start working with and tinkering with your projects. However, it was at the time of RTM not up to what the R&D team and Borland want it to be. I have no clue as to where they are now, though. C++Builder is not my first choice and there is still enough new to find in the Delphi personality ;-)

At the moment, I can only say Delphi 2006 is marginally better than Delphi 7. Also, there appear to be a few bugs that I'd say make it slightly worse than Delphi 7.
